General Procedures — M03 TRACON
Handoffs & Transfer of Communication
Section titled “Handoffs & Transfer of Communication”- Transfer comm to Tower: not before 20 DME MEM, not later than the FAF (instrument approach) or Class B surface area entry (visual approach).
- Aircraft within MEM ATCT airspace (7.1.15) but not landing at KMEM: radar hand off to MEM ATCT before reaching the shared boundary.
- Aircraft inbound to Rwy 9/27: must enter Class B surface area on the appropriate final approach course.
VFR Aircraft
Section titled “VFR Aircraft”- VFR arrivals to MEM: Clear into Class Bravo, vector to arrival side, hand off to Tower before entering MEM ATCT’s area of responsibility.
- VFR in MEM ATCT airspace (7.1.15), not landing at KMEM: radar hand off to MEM ATCT before the shared boundary.
- VFR departures: Assign ELVIS departure headings appropriate for direction of departure unless otherwise coordinated.
