Calm wind config is SOUTH (North is non-calm-wind).

RNAV departures: Instruct to “RNAV to [initial waypoint]” — e.g., “SWA2103, RNAV to FRNCS, Runway 2L cleared for takeoff.”

Non-RNAV / ELVIS / No-SID jet departures — assign DTA heading per runway config:

250All other DRW gates
160All other DRE gates

Note: DRE must point out TIPPN/FLAME gates prior to leaving the departure release area.

Props: Must be placed on a heading within the departure release area to enter the appropriate departure sector.

Tower may assign any approved heading to any gate if the heading is noted on the strip and required coordination is complete.

  • Ensure separation between arrivals within 5 miles of the runway; notify TRACON if visual separation cannot be provided (including 13/31 arrivals and parallel runway).
  • Reduced separation (2.5 NM) on final approved for: 2L, 2C, 2R, 20R, 20L.
  • Coordinate with appropriate TRACON position for releases on runways outside the automatic release area, and for unplanned missed approaches (include assigned heading if non-standard).
